Lochcarron design a tartan to mark the centenary of the Model 'T' Ford 2008 marks the Centenary of the Model 'T' Ford, the world's first mass production car.
To commemorate the event, The Model 'T' Ford register of UK are holding a major rally at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, under the guidance of Mike Povey from Ancrum.
Mike has built quite a reputation for organizing the annual Selkirk Vintage Rally and next years event at Dryburgh is likely to be the major European event to recognise the Centenary. Representatives from Ford USA plan to attend and world-wide entry applications have already been received. The Hotel is booked solid.
Mike approached Douggie Young of Lochcarron with the idea of designing a tartan to mark the occasion. This has now been approved, along with plans to produce a range of clothing and accessories. The tartan is registered at the Patent Office and Ford have given a franchise for the use of the Model 'T' name and logo to the Uk Club.
Lochcarron are talking to Ford's franchising agents in the UK conerning a possible global franchise, which will allow Lochcarron to sell the design with the Model 'T' logo and endorsement throughout their total domaine. |
