HOLLAND & SHERRY WINS TOP BUSINESS AWARD FOR EXPORT

Peebles textile firm Holland & Sherry has received an award from Scotland’s leading economic development organisation for its successes in supplying luxury cloths to the world’s fashion houses and showrooms.

Scottish Council for Development & Industry Chief Executive Alan Wilson said:

“Holland & Sherry is woven into the fabric of Borders life. For over 160 years it has been one of the Borders’ great business success stories. Today, it shows how a traditional company can stay ahead of the pack by producing consistently fashionable and quality cloths, and diversifying into new markets such as interior design.

“From Savile Row and Sydney showrooms to the fashion houses of Paris and Milan and top New York and Hong Kong designers, there is increasing demand for Holland and Sherry luxury fabrics. SCDI’s award recognises its outstanding achievements which have seen exports increase by a quarter in 2004.”

The award was accepted by Holland & Sherry Chief Executive Charles Stewart.
