SGL TECHNIC LTD. based in Muir of Ord, Ross-shire are one of the world’s leading producers of oxidised and carbonised fibres, markets include aerospace, automotive, thermoplastic reinforcement, structural & construction reinforcement. The TECHNIC division, (which includes Muir of Ord and 2 smaller regional production plants in Germany and the USA) is part of the SGL CARBON GROUP who are the world’s largest producer of carbon and graphite products, with a yearly turnover of £1.2BN.

The Muir of Ord facility has a workforce of 170 people, this number continues to rise as expansion projects progress. Turnover for the Muir of Ord facility in 1999 is expected to be in the region of £16M, (10% domestic and 90% export, primarily France, Germany, USA and the Far East). On going expansion projects and joint ventures will more than double present capacity throughout 2000 and beyond, hence greatly increasing turnover in upcoming years.
