Wavegen is a world leader in the research, development and manufacture of commercial wave powered generation technology. The company is developing a family of related devices to provide a comprehensive solution to exploiting the unlimited renewable energy source in the shoreline, nearshore and offshore environments.

Wavegen was founded in 1992, and operates from its premises in Inverness. A demonstration shoreline device will be constructed on the island of Islay during 1998. In September, 1996, Wavegen signed its first contract to export a 500 kW system to the Azores. The company is now considering power project schemes in Hawaii, Mauritius, South Africa and the Republic of Ireland, while discussions are already underway for power supply modules in the USA and Puerto Rica.
